All curricula at Howard College result in a BSc.
Programmes
- Programme in Biomedical Sciences. This programme has limited acceptances, and you would have had to be accepted specifically into this programme to be eligible. You should see Prof. Chris Appleton if you have questions about it.
- Programme in Biological Sciences. This is intended for students who want general training in the Biological Sciences. Students graduating from this degree can continue with Honours in any of the biological or ecological disciplines.
- Programme in Biological Sciences (Marine Biology Stream). This is a special curriculum within the Biological Sciences programme that focuses on one of the strengths of the Durban Centre, and requires that students take specific modules aimed at training in Marine Biology.
- Programme in Ecological Sciences. This is intended for students who want general training in the Ecological Sciences. Students graduating from this degree can continue with Honours in any of the biological, environmental, or ecological disciplines.
- Programme in Environmental Sciences (Life Sciences Stream). This programme is jointly offered with School of Environmental Sciences, and administered by them. This is for students who want to work with Biology in a human framework, for example pollution control or environmental impact assessment.
Majors
Majors in the general BSc. This allows students to choose 2 different disciplines. You can choose one discipline from our list, and a second from those offered by other schools. Traditional choices include, for example, Cellular Biology and Chemistry.
